I finished my FA Club Mentor Induction course last Sunday, gaining even more info and advice before we start the programme and I'm looking forward to the challenge of me being allocated two different Junior Clubs to work with that have asked to be part of the Mentoring programme. This week has seen the last few "Join Our Club" sessions I've been delivering for various clubs, via the West Riding County FA. It's been great working with all the girls in both Primary and Secondary Schools around Yorkshire, as well as the clubs who attended and I'm definitely looking forward to continuing this programme, along with some more Sportivate sessions in schools next September. On Thursday, I delivered the best part of a days coaching, working with 9 groups of Year 6 school children from several schools, in transition to Beckfoot School in Bingley. It was a challenge, running sharp sessions with a fast turnover (20 mins each group) and approximately 30 youngsters per session but we all had fun and most of their teachers joined in too! I then attended a great course at County HQ on Thursday evening, where we were given some key info in coaching awareness between male and female players. Fantastic content from the tutors and course participants and it was useful information, as I move towards working at the West Riding County Girls' Player Development Centre. Interesting as well, when I arrived at Fleet Lane, Besiktas (Turkey) were having a training session on the hottest day of our summer so far. At least half a dozen Ice baths got used after their session finished, whilst we were starting our event! Reminded me of our pre season at Brighouse Town a few years ago. Mark.
